Understanding the Power of a Patterned Life

Personal reflections by a fellow traveler. Not AA-approved literature. Shared in the spirit of experience, strength, and hope.

Prosperity isn’t a product of luck. It’s the fruit of a protocol — a pattern of living rooted in humility, consistency, and service. You don’t chase prosperity. You live in such a way that it can’t help but find you.

Before I got sober, I thought prosperity meant stuff. Money. Status. Comfort. But I had limited protocol — only cravings and chaos. I’d chase a little relief, burn a few bridges, blame the fire on someone else, and repeat. If I ever caught a blessing, I lost it just as fast. Easy come, easy go.

It wasn’t until I surrendered — really surrendered — that a new way of life became possible. The 12 Steps didn’t just set me right, they restructured me. Daily inventory. Spiritual connection. Service to others. Honesty. Willingness. It was slow at first — like learning to walk again, one step at a time.

But little by little, things started to grow. Peace. Clarity. Direction.  Relationships started to heal. My mind became quieter. My work more focused. And it wasn’t because I was “trying harder.” It was because I finally had a protocol — a spiritual framework that kept me honest, humble, and aligned.

Prosperity, it turns out, isn’t a destination. It’s a byproduct of living right. And when we live right long enough, we stop asking “How do I get more?” and start asking “How can I give more?”

What consistent patterns in my life are feeding my prosperity — and what patterns are stealing it?
